Limestone Bluffs Again

While some friends went plein air painting I was nursing a cold that kept me inside yesterday. I pulled up the limestone bluffs photos to give it another shot. It is not just the bare trees that get me but the brush. This photo had dead warm gray brush hanging on the side of the cliff.

Maybe cropping it may improve the composition.

  1. I love the the use of warm & cool grays here. I feel the 8x8 size of this image looks best. Gives room to breathe around that big tree trunk.

  2. Limestone Bluffs Again, Road to Augusta, White Barn, Sunset on the Trail, regarding clouds (try a little Van Dyke Brown in the shadows) ... you may find that Turner had a little cloud trick up his sleeve. Otherwise - keep at it.
