Rodeo Park Fall 2014

Connor

Sold
Final portrait. This was from photo references. I did not take the photos from the same angle as he posed so this was a little guess work.

The SouthEast Iowa Artists' Studio Tour was this weekend. I participated at the local art center with portrait demos. This was one of the models I managed to paint in an hour and a half. I need to work on it some more but feel that I have captured his likeness well.

25 paintings in 30 days

OK so I did not make 30 paintings in 30 days. Congratulations to the artists who did make it, lots of hard work and determination. I started out trying to do all of the paintings plein air and did make 14 paintings on site. Even this grouping was late.

Arabian Run

This is an acrylic painting. On this background I used iridescent acrylics, which are hard to show when photographing artwork. To get the transitions I used acrylic medium for air brush.

Rodeo Park plein air

It is challenging to paint cloudy, rainy days. It has been a couple of days since I went plein air painting and come rain or shine I was going.
