I did a study of this in a smaller version. I was happy with that and did this 10" x 20" version.
usually I do the main subject matter first but in this case I was procrastinating for fear I would mess up.

I do the exact same thing...or get a painting halfway and can't finish cuz I might mess it up. Yours came out great!
