Lee County Fair

This is from a photo I took a long time ago. It reminds me of when I was in 4-H. I canned beef for my entry. The judge docked it for not looking appealing. Anyone who ever had it would think otherwise.
10 x 14 watercolor on 140 lb. cold pressed paper.

  1. Love the colors in this. You placed the ribbons perfectly.
How long did it take you to do the wallpaper - great job!

  2. Thanks Julie, I would guess a couple of hours, maybe more, with me it is sporatic. I started with a ruler for the lines, then used the ruler to position the center dots of the flowers. You can see after that the flowers are painterly. Using a ruler is something I was told as an artist not to do. An artist friend of mine once created a stencil for an elaborate wallpaper pattern.

  3. I love this one! As time-consuming as the wallpaper must have been, it really makes the painting. Beautifully done.
