Reminder of Spring

I have an animal related exhibit coming up in Normal, Illinois at the McLean County Arts in November. Besides myself the exhibit includes a fiber artist and a ceramic artist. I have just enough time to do small paintings. This painting does not seem to have the same impact as the cow painting, I am wondering if it is the rule of using odd numbers. The cow shows three legs with the front legs together. My daughter has a three legged cat, maybe I should paint her. Although the negative spaces are an odd number.

Back to snow paintings. This was from a group of sheep and I pulled these three out.

When painting animals I often have to improvise. I stopped along the road to photograph these sheep and of course they do not cooperate. I used this as the basis for sheep in the snow.

Spring Lamb no6

I came back to this painting 3 days later and decided to make some changes. I couldn't find my reference photo so I winged it. It was relaxing to just play with the composition and colors.

Twins

I really don't know if these are twins but the who can tell with sheep. I asked the owner if she names them and some she does. Her older sheep have cloth coats on them to keep most of the dust and such out of the wool. She gets a better price for the wool if it is cleaner. I probably won't have any paintings of the sheep besides having been recently sheared they have their coats on.
