Onions Ready for Spring

I did these onions in three different paintings. I needed the practice which is always ongoing. This one started with a blue ground mixed with liquin. I painted into this with some wiping away for the highlights. 
I originally bought these red onions to paint them but as you can see that was a while back. Now they won't work for cooking but they still make a great painting subject.

  1. LOVE THIS! you nailed the exact color of those onions and your light on them is gorgeous.
    I always leave mine to sprout. That is when they interest me too. Looking forward to seeing the other two.
