Wilson Lake in Early Spring

I went plein air painting to work on my neutrals. I had some paint left over from my portrait and they are a nice tan color.

  1. What a fabulous tree -- it's a character! Like the energy from the bits of red that peek through. It was your underpainting, I presume. Nice one, Carlene!

  2. It's amazing if you can see this and your final self portrait on the same screen. They really are the same colors! Sort of shoots down the idea of portrait and landscape selections in pastels.

    1. Good eye, I used the leftover paint from my portrait. I figured the tans would work on the neutral landscape this time of year.

  3. OOOH...I REALLY LIKE THIS ONE!
What a wonderful tree and I love the way you painted it. Do I see a pink underpainting? Just a perfect amount of zing to go with your grays.

    1. Kind of a coral underpainting. Sometimes I use that on landscapes. Thanks for commenting.
