Rosie's Cat

This is one of Rosie's cats. They are not the most friendly cats rather suspicious like this one. Most of my reference shots were from a distance. The cool gray ground worked well as you can see it between the green. It also helped with the white shadow side.

Sparkler

This is the final because I was told I had to have red in this to enter the Red, White and Blue exhibit. I originally assumed that meant a patriotic theme for the 4th of July.  I also changed the face a little so she would look happy, darkened the background some and made up the red star headband.

I had to wipe the face three maybe it was four times on this one. The reference shot was grainy and trying to get this to look like someone around 13 was hard. The local art center has an upcoming exhibit for July titled, Red, White and Blue. I really don't have any flag paintings or even reference shots. This was good practice taking on something out of my skill set. The deadline for turning in artwork is Wednesday and I am hoping to come up with another painting.

Niota Creek study

Another study of the creek in Niota. We have had a lot of rain lately and once the sun comes out I may go there and plein air paint. I would think that the branch over the falls is probably gone, hopefully replaced with another log or I will have to make it up.

College Hills Art Festival

I will be exhibiting at the College Hills Art Festival in Cedar Falls, Iowa on Friday June 19th and Saturday June 20th. If you are there stop by my booth and introduce yourself.

Update on this painting. I donated this to the kid's art tent and the young lady who picked it, stopped by my booth and thanked me. I am happy that it found a home with such a nice young lady.

I also donated this painting. Did not know who bought it.

Niota Creek by the Bridge

I want to stop sometime and paint this scene plein air. It can be viewed from beneath the bridge.

White Tail

sold
Most of the shots of the rabbit look like this. It would be nice to get one where she is staring at me.

Rabbit Watching

sold
This is the pose I get most often when following the rabbits. I haven't seen them around for a few days. At least they stopped hanging out in my back yard where the dogs are let out. The dogs sometimes would see them in the neighbors yard and bark only to be ignored.

Five Tomatoes on the Vine

I usually end up with five tomatoes since I end up eating one before I get around to painting them. The tomatoes are a nice backup painting subject when I don't have time to plein air and they last long. When I buy raspberries I have to paint them right away.
I started this on the white ground, not that I would recommend it, I was just in a hurry. Painting on a neutral ground makes it easier.

Rabbit in the Clover

Sold
This is one of the rabbits before it took off. The clover is high because the grass needs to be cut but then again that is why the rabbit is there.

Wednesday morning at Wilson Lake

Made it to Wilson Lake for some plein air painting. If I had just got out there sooner I may have caught the mist on the water, as it was settling by then. There were some white blooms in this scene, not sure what they were. There were plenty of great views and nice weather.
