Bicycle Bridge in Amana

I painted this for the Fresh Paint 2013 plein air event in Amana, Iowa. There is a great bicycle path and the tourist center will rent out the bicycles. The day was kind of overcast most of the time.

This is from a couple of weeks ago. The corn had a little green in it then. I hope to get out this weekend and paint the wonderful browns and tans, but I have to hurry as they are harvesting.

I saw these cattle in the timber and took several photographs. They are white with black points, ears, nose legs. Just the cutest calves I have ever seen.

Bay Horse Along Bluff Road

The pose is what attracted me to this horse, so getting that right was important. 

This is my rough in. Several corrections later I am happy with the results.

This caught my eye because of the reds and browns. Grass does not grow under cedar trees.

The waters were rather still this day. The still waters made for a boring painting so I added small waves.

This painting was donated to a local fundraiser.

Cupcake and Pink Ribbon

There is a cupcake place downtown that makes the best moist cupcakes. I bought one but first I had to paint it. I used a green ground and left a lot of the background loose with the ground showing through.
