Quarry and Still Water

This is another painting of the quarry in Mount Vernon, Iowa. I never tire of painting rocks and water. I am planning to go back to this spot sometime this summer so in the meantime painting from photos is the only option.

Ruffled White Iris

I started painting this a week ago and was not happy with it. I came back to it yesterday and this is the result. I should have taken a photo of the original for comparison. Maybe next time as I know there will be several that don't quite make it.

I started this on a blue gray ground and worked into it while still wet. I use Liquin and paint alla prima.

The owner of this pony bragged that she is the prettiest pony and I have to agree. All white and with big dark eyes. Even with her winter coat she is very photogenic.

Northeast Iowa Landscape

This scene is from a few miles north of Mount Vernon, Iowa. They have wonderful rolling hills in that part of Iowa.

Popcorn on Movie Night Again

I painted a 6" x 6" version of this a while back. I loved painting the popcorn shapes of white with spots of yellow and reddish brown. I also enjoyed eating the popcorn.
