I thought this was a statue of Mary but then I noticed there is what appears to be a rosary bead. I should have checked  for an identification plate.

Brown Eyed Girl

I am busy on a commission so a quick drawing is all I have time for. This little girl has very pretty eyes. When I have time I would like to do a painting. Her sister also has very pretty eyes and freckles.

Black eyed Susan

As I was packing up my easel and leaving the park I noticed these and took a photo before I left. Now seemed like a nice time to paint it.

Hanna's Rainy Day

Yesterday I visited my grandaughters. The older girl loves to play air hockey. We had so much fun doing that. The younger girl as you can see likes to paint and draw. She drew this great painting for me and I drew one for her. The little dog is Lucy my dashound and both Hannah and the dog are wearing rain hats. More fun than plein air painting.

Red Onion Yellow Onion 2

Another onion that is starting to sprout. I don't know if it is that I don't use onions in my cooking or that I don't cook from scratch much.

Moeller's Cow

My cousins had a milk farm. I remember helping them bring the cows up for milking which I thought was fun. They had one cow that was so gentle they could ride her back to the barn.

Second Hand Rose

After Valentine's Day is when I buy Roses. This was a lovely rose that did not get a chance to be that symbol of love it was meant to be. Instead I made a painting and maybe someone will buy it to give to a loved one for that special occasion.

Three Pears 2

Another play day with a palette knife. I really like the clean up with this. I just don't like waiting for it to dry. I also like to take my photos in early morning and late afternoon on a sunny day. I will cheat with indoor lighting but not with these.

Red Wine and Green Grapes

I like to drink white wine but I like to paint red wine. I guess I can drink red for my art.

Three Pears

I have been experimenting with a palette knife. This one started out with a rough outline using a brush. I do like the way the palette knife cleans up.

Honey Crisp Apple

This is a Honeycrisp apple which is a great eating variety. Not as great for painting as it poses many challenges. It is yellow and red with red spots.

General Corse

This is the statue in Crapo Park in Burlington, Iowa. It is of John Murray Corse ( April 27, 1893) an American politician and soldeier who served as a general in the Union Army in the American Civil War (1861-65)

This was left over from an event I volunteered at. The organizers knew I painted and told me to take them home. Of course they ended up as painting subjects.

Wilson Lake Road to the Shelterhouse

This is from a study and photo reference. After the last painting of Wilson Lake in the summer I decided to take the dogs out there and do some sketches. The snow has melted but there is still wonderful greens and browns.

Wilson Lake Road

One of the places I paint is Wilson Lake. I have plein air painted there when the lotus were in bloom. This view is the road that runs past the lake and up into a picnic area with a shelter. The road around the lake is closed to vehicle traffic this time of the year. Looking at this makes me want to brave the cold to get this scene with snow and bare trees.

Three Cherries

I have been playing with palette knife painting after doing one for a challenge entry. This was started as a brush painting and stopped. This was a good one to try something on.

Mare and Foal no4

If this looks familiar it is because this is the third painting of this pair. One was as part of a group and another view of just this pair.

Two Pears

This is my entry for the latest Daily Paintworks challenge. To paint like someone whose work you admire. I started out painting like Dreama Tolle Perry than changed to Julie Ford Oliver. I ended up painting like me. I can usually identify an artist's work. Maybe it's like writers and singers they are the experts on themselves. I have heard imitators and they are usually close. I wonder if you can tell the difference between Cher and her many imitators. Can you identify the real Elvis?

I once heard about an artist who had problems with people imitating her style. She had her lawyer send letters to these imitators. This artist had a style that was easily imitated. The artists I tried to imitate have more technical skills that are harder to copy. There is nothing like the real thing.

Bud in the Flower Cottage

This is Bud the greeter at the Flower Cottage. He was fine with the first couple of photos but by the time I took this one he was avioding eye contact. I imagine he gets photographed at lot, especially with backgrounds of flowers. I need to go back and try to get photos when he is fresh. I need to paint him again.

30 in 30 challenge

Collage of my 30 paintings in 30 days challenge. Some of these do not show well because they are rectangles. I just did not have the time to edit the collage. I used the program pic monkey.
