Watercolor demo

Yesterday the Fort Madison Art Center had their monthly Lunch ala Art. Lunch is catered in and they invite the artist from the current monthly exhibit to give a talk. October they had the Iowa Watercolor Society exhibit. They did not have anyone who was in the show to talk. I had been in the show in the past and volunteered to do a watercolor demo. This is the finished demo, after I took it home and tweaked it some.

Stacy

I did a little watercolor painting today. Time was short as I was busy matting and framing. I put masking tape around the outside and remove it after the painting is finished. This leaves another border so one mat will look nice. This also helps me to compose the painting with boundaries.

Waiting for Spring

This is another Dailypaintworks Challenge. http://www.dailypaintworks.com/Challenges
I needed to brush up on my watercolor because I am teaching an art class. This is my second attempt as I believe that my first was just a warm up.

Arabian Mare no.9

Painting a horse has been easy for me but the background can be a challenge or just make it vague.

Green Glass Apple

A glass artist friend of mine made this apple and I had it sitting near a window, when it caught my eye. The colors of green that was the glass apple and the colors that are reflections from the window and making the composition work with just one object was what I had to work out before I began.

Ink Bottles Red and Blue

I painted this in watercolor. Glass is one subject that I do really like to do in watercolor. This is one that I will tape on the border leaving a nice white border around the subject.
