Peony

I went plein air painting with disappointing results. I then wiped it off and pulled out a photograph from this spring. I needed some practice on peonies anyway.
6" x 6" oil on canvas.

This is what I wiped off. I am glad I painted it anyway because I learned a little bit more about painting clouds.

Plein Air Peony

On Memorial Day the parks are busy, so I was reluctant to go painting there. It is not that I mind people watching, just that I will be in the way unless I lug my stuff down the trails out of the way. The weather forecast was predicting rain so I decided to set up in my yard and paint the peonies. The sun was shining when I started but soon came and went. The blooms also changed as they were opening while I was painting. This was a good painting exercise.
