Snow Fall at Wilson Lake

Waiting to get out in the snow and paint the shadows. The weather was tolerable but the sun was not out. Back to the photos it is. Around sunset the sun did come out just long enough to get photos. This is another painting using the same colors as the last two.
8" x 8" oil on canvas

  1. That palette seems to work nicely. It makes sense to take a triad and limit one of the three colors.

    1. I am trying to work with Phthalo blue since I have two large tubes of it. I also like the darks I can get with it. I finally broke down and added the Ultramarine to the palette. Yellow ochre is another color I am pushing myself to use. If they are selling it somebody must know how to work it. Thanks for the explanation, on my part it was accidental.

  4. I'm glad to know snow still exists somewhere in the world :-) Love the way you painted the trees and the beautifully colored shadows .
